Development Process

How we approach projects from start to finish.

1

Discovery & Analysis

We ask a lot of questions upfront. What are you trying to build? What does success look like? What's the budget? Better to surface problems now than three months in.

2

Architecture & Planning

We figure out how the pieces fit together before writing code. Tech stack, data model, third-party integrations. You get a document you can review, not just a verbal promise.

3

Iterative Development

We build in chunks you can see and test. Regular demos, not radio silence for weeks. If something's going in the wrong direction, we catch it early.

4

Quality Assurance

Tests that actually run. We write them as we go, not as an afterthought. Security checks before anything goes live. Performance testing if the project needs it.

5

Launch & Support

We deploy it, make sure it works in production, and hand over documentation so you're not dependent on us forever. We stick around for support if you need it.

Common Questions

Answers to what clients ask us most often.

What technologies does JonesLabs use?

Our primary stack is TypeScript, Vue.js/Nuxt, Node.js, and .NET/C#. We work with PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Redis for data, and deploy on Azure, AWS, and Railway. For AI integration, we use Claude API, OpenRouter, and custom MCP tooling.

Do you work with clients outside of Georgia?

Yes. We work with clients worldwide. Our team is based in Atlanta, GA, but we deliver projects remotely for businesses across the US and internationally.

What is your development process?

We start with requirements gathering and technical planning, then move to iterative development with regular check-ins. We deploy early and often, using staging environments for review before production releases.

Do you offer ongoing maintenance and support?

Yes. We offer maintenance packages that include security updates, performance monitoring, content updates, and priority support. Most of our clients stay with us long-term after the initial build.

How long does a typical project take?

It depends on scope. A small business website usually takes 2-4 weeks. A custom web application or SaaS product can take 2-4 months for an initial launch, sometimes longer for complex systems. We scope everything upfront during discovery so there are no surprises, and we build iteratively so you see progress throughout.

How does pricing work?

We offer fixed-price quotes for well-defined projects and hourly billing for ongoing work or projects where scope may shift. Every engagement starts with a free discovery call so we can understand what you need and give you an accurate estimate before any commitment.

Who owns the code when the project is done?

You do. When we deliver a project, you get full ownership of the source code, documentation, and all related assets. We hand over everything so you are never locked in or dependent on us to keep things running.

Do you use AI in your development process?

Yes, extensively. We build and operate our own AI tools, so we know what works and what does not. AI helps us move faster on routine tasks, but every line of code gets reviewed by a human. We also integrate AI into client projects when it makes sense, from LLM-powered features to workflow automation.

How do you handle security?

Security is built into every phase, not bolted on at the end. We follow OWASP guidelines, run security checks before every deployment, and implement protections like rate limiting, input sanitization, CSP headers, and encrypted data storage. For infrastructure, we use Cloudflare WAF, Doppler for secrets management, and hardened deployment pipelines.

Can you take over an existing project or codebase?

Yes. We regularly take over projects from other developers or agencies. We start with a code audit to understand what we are working with, identify any immediate issues, and put together a plan for getting things on track. We are comfortable inheriting codebases in most major frameworks and languages.

Do you build accessible websites?

Yes, accessibility is built into every project from the start. We follow WCAG 2.1 and 2.2 guidelines, and every site we deliver gets audited with AccessHawk, our own AI-powered accessibility scanner. That means proper semantic HTML, keyboard navigation, screen reader support, ARIA labels, and focus management on every interactive element.

Do you build mobile apps?

Yes. We build mobile applications using React Native for cross-platform and Swift for native iOS. For most projects, React Native delivers a native-feeling experience on both iOS and Android without maintaining two separate codebases. For projects that require full native performance on iOS, we build in Swift.

How do I get started?

Send us a message through the contact form or give us a call. Tell us what you are working on and we will set up a free discovery call to talk through your project, answer questions, and figure out if we are the right fit. No commitment, no pressure.

Let's build something together.
